Vitals

  • 6-foot-2, 170 pounds

  • Shooting Guard

  • 23.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 2.5 steals last season

  • Black Stone Valley Chaos AAU

Matt Mobley took Massachusetts basketball by storm in 2011-12, leading St. Peter Marian of Worcester to the Central Mass. Finals before falling to St. John’s Shrewsbury.

He is a silky smooth guard who makes it look too easy sometimes. Instead of taking his game to the college ranks next year, he will team up with Rene Castro at Worcester Academy.

@RDRecruiting: What do you consider to be your biggest strengths on the court?
@mmobez21I can score from anywhere on the court, and can also get my teammates involved when I need to. I can really get after it definsevly too.

RDR: What do you feel you need to improve on the most going forward?
MM:I need to get physically bigger and stronger for the next level.

RDR: If you could compare your game to any NBA or College player, past or present, who would you go with?
MM: that’s a tough one, but I’d have to say Monta Ellis

RDR: What made you decide to go to Worcester Academy for next season?
MM: Well after my high school season ended I didn’t have any offers, so I’m hoping that a PG year will help me earn a scholarship.

RDR: What schools have shown interest without offering? Have any emerged since the end of the season?
MM: The only D1 school that has shown interest since the end of the season is Towson University.

RDR: Are there any particular AAU Tournaments you are looking forward to this summer?
MM: I’m looking forward to the super 16, the providence jam fest, and nationals.
